Stock Market

The markets tumbled again today. We are living in tumultuous times. Everything seems to be having an effect on everything else.

When I got home, I logged in to my 401(k) provider's website and was happy to see that my first (Roth) contribution of $76.18 is now officially in the stock market!

This is the start of my long investing relationship with the markets. I am getting in at a very low point. Let's see what happens.

There's a lot more to come. I look forward to the near future as I continue to contribute to my 401(k) and when I open my Roth IRA.

it is quite amazing to watch isn't it? almost hard to believe it's actually taking place. the banker hubby provides daily conversation on the shake-ups, and living in NY it's all too real.

Makes you really realise the importance of having a cushion of savings to fall back on if need be. Though I have to say I can't believe alot of the blaming of the financial institutions solely ... as if they forced individuals to take high risk loans and live beyond their means... it's easy to blame others for bad habits. Don't you think?

I'm going to put money in the market as well while it's at a low point...

This is probably the best point to get in!

@ distar - you are right. it's extremely fascinating/interesting/amazing! and almost hard to believe, yes. and i agree that not all the blame should be placed on wall street/financial institutions. ordinary people were greedy, too & tried to live beyond their means, as you said!
