Retail Credit Card

When I went on my shopping spree recently, I did something I never imagined I would do: I opened a retail credit card!

My new Nordstrom card gives me reward points (2 points for each $1 spent with a $20 gift certificate when I reach 2,000 points) and there is no annual fee. The card has increased my credit limit, too! This has been a good way to increase help my lackluster credit since I only have one other credit card with a low limit.

Good thing I know myself well enough that this store credit card will not be dangerous. No debt for me! (But lots of shoes...) :)

Do you have a retail card? Do you actually use it?

I actually only have one retail credit card...and it's a Nordies card, too!

I <3 it! It would be safe to be that 90% of my wardrobe is either from Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack. It's great to get rewarded for spending money I would have spent regardless.

I usually end up purchasing items for family and friends as well (and making sure that I am promptly reimbursed!), and this year qualified for a level 2 fashion rewards. I'll be attending the Nordies Private Holiday shopping night, where I am eligible to receive 10 pts/dollar. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me!

I've signed up to a lot of loyalty cards in my time, but never a store card. I don't really shop enough at any one store to make it worth it, I don't think :)d

I love Nordstrom! I have a Banana Republic card because it gains points from BR, the Gap, Old Navy, and Piperline. I only use it for when I go to those places and usually 2 or 3 times a year I get a $10 gift card.

I have two store cards. I use them every once in a while. I sometimes get discounts sent to me, in addition to cash back from buying stuff there. I know they're frowned upon by the general personal finance crowd, but I already have them and will continue to use them if I go to the stores. If it turns out the stores stop carrying stuff I like, I might consider canceling, but right now, I don't mind having them.

I have a Nordstrom card and a Macy's. The only reason I've kept the Macy's Visa open is because it's my oldest account. I like the Nordstrom card because if you go shopping during the sales you get double points! Just be sure to pay it off immediately (which is something I haven't been so good at lately)
