Going Mac

When I moved to New York, I decided it was time for me to say goodbye to my PC and get a Mac. I absolutely love my iPhone which I've had since February, and over the years I've owned two iPods. Apple devices are fantastic and the best part is that they seem to last quite a long time!

A lot of my friends are already pro-Mac and have been for a long time. I've done my research, talked to friends and co-workers and basically anyone. I've been loyal to Dell for as long as I can remember...but my current laptop is 3 years old and it's getting to the end of its days. It's slow, the battery is dying and the charge lasts for less than an hour unplugged. It's getting clunky! My college laptop lasted me 4.5 years but even that was pushing it. (The battery had been replaced twice!) I figure even though technology basically falls all over itself with consistent and frequent upgrades, it would be nice to have something that could last double what my current laptop has!

Per suggestions from friends, I waited a few months for a much-expected upgrade to the MacBook Airs. And today, they were announced! I plan on heading to one of the four Apple stores in the city tomorrow after work to hopefully get one. The best part? I can use my Employee Purchase Program option to get 6% off! Not quite sales tax, but I'll take any savings I can get. (The money for this purchase has been earmarked since I sold my car prior to moving.) I can't wait to finally make the big switch! :) Oh, and it might help me feel a bit better about my apartment hunting frustrations...haha.

Are you Mac or PC? Have you made the switch? Any suggestions for a new Mac user?

You won't regret it. I've been a mac lap top since 2009 (about 2 yrs now) and love it. I had a dell desktop before.

My main PC is a MAC now. I used to use PCs, but I only fire them up for certain functions. I use the Mac most of the time now

The Mac Pro is the only line to go with.. I tried the cheaper plastic Macs and they suck. Spend the extra $$and buy the Mac Pro or the Mac Airs

Catching up on your blog - & very happy to see this post!! Can't wait until you get it, you know how much of a Mac fan I am! :)

I've been wanting to upgrade since I've had my PowerBook since '05, but I really have no reason too ... still works great - replaced batt only once, upgraded the memory, and had to buy a new powercord just last year..! :) You'll love it!!

You should order from Macmall or another site that will save you on sales tax.

I have no interest in a macbook but as for my iphone... the first one literally fell apart after less than a year. The replacement, after 6 months, is a complete mess as well.

I totally get it. Why bother making products that can stand the test of time, when you make a New and Improved one every year.

As crazy as it sounds... I like my PC. Don't get me wrong. I like apple products but it seems all the programs I want is not Mac-compatible yet. Especially games! gah.

I'm new to your blog and relatively new to the world of Mac - I bought an iMac last year and it's the best money I ever spent. Seriously. I still have a PC in the house, but I only use it if my son is using the Mac. I've been slowly migrating all his stuff to the PC so I can have my Mac all to myself! It's so easy to switch, especially if you've used iOS devices.

So this is a blog about saving money and you want to waste money on overpriced Apple fashion accessories. There are plenty of good PCs that are just as powerful and half the price. If you don't like Windows, use Ubuntu.

I am a total Mac convert - you won't regret it! And they last forever and are just so wonderful to use. My grandmother finally convinced me to switch and has just upgraded her MacBook for her 80th birthday! Enjoy...

I just found your blog and im bookmarking it! :)
I bought a MAC last Jan and have never looked back. I don't miss PC at all and found my macbook pro so easy to use from the beginning. Everything just makes sense on a MAC.
